Question 1. can I use the paper with the metal corner in the middle for the
ceiling to wall joint or just paper. (out house is 150 years old and the
edge is not great, with metal edge would seem to straighten it out.
1. Are you from Newfoundland. you sound like you are.

Hi there, I’m a newbie so I have rather simple questions:
1. Do you pre-fold the tape to use in the ceiling/wall joint into a 90
degree angle? Do they sell tape already folder?
2. If I’m fixing an existing wall/ceiling joint which has a big gap, do I
have to fill that hole with joint compound before applying the tape?

Did you use to work at macdonalds!

What if you are mudding and taping a ceiling corner but the ceiling has a
different texture? Do you remove the texture first? Great demo by the way.

cris medrano · September 11, 2014 at 9:41 AM

Why do you keep taking the mud off ? Wouldn’t it come out after you put the
tape and press it out ?

eLLiot mLEB · September 11, 2014 at 10:31 AM

what if there is a half an inch gap between wall and ceiling ?? Should you
fill the gap with the mud ?

Wall to ceiling is 110 degrees. Can I use same method?

WichitaFixIt · September 11, 2014 at 10:51 AM

When I tape any corner I like the tape to be dry so it can hold a ciean
sharp fold, I see a lot of different ways to tape and finish but this has
worked for me for a long time. I have seen some of the wet tape videos, but
I think you can get the same results with out the mess.Go to wichitafixit
com for a video that will show step by step on taping and finishing
drywall. Thanks Kris and good luck!

WichitaFixIt · September 11, 2014 at 11:27 AM

I do, it takes a little more work to keep the knife in the angle, but this
will be a good teacher! If you can do that angle you can do any corner. LOL

you made it look easy. thanks

iam4tune82 · September 11, 2014 at 12:57 PM

THANK YOU! Dry or wet paper joint tape? And is there a difference? I am
about to embark on this around mah’ entire top floor ceiling joint/corner.
I did use damp tape in my vertical corners and they came out flawless. I
would like your advice. Thanks in advance 🙂 Kris

Dauzq De · September 11, 2014 at 2:05 PM

you make it look too easy. I’m about to bring the fucking house down

WichitaFixIt · September 11, 2014 at 2:27 PM

The drywall will go on a framed wall structure, the strength will come from
that, if you arn’t sure… when you build the wall us 2×6 on 16 in. center,
it just depends on what you want to finish the walls, smooth or a block
look, if you mud and tape them I have a video at wichitafixitcom that will
help you a lot on how to and what you need to get it done right yourself.

I got a bit of a problem. I want to remove the sheetrock on the wall but
I’m leaving the ceiling because it’s in good shape. The ceiling however is
textured. When I bring the new sheetrock up would I be able to cheat and
just use mud on the wall to fill in any gap?

Andy yohnson · September 11, 2014 at 3:36 PM

what about bubbles u get after laying the mud and tape? cut the bubble
section out and apply mud to the are right? or is that wrong?

WichitaFixIt · September 11, 2014 at 4:10 PM

When an angle is taped you fold the tape in half to get the square corner,
but half goes on the ceiling and half on the wall, wait a day to dry before
it is topped.

Ezzequiel2517 · September 11, 2014 at 4:55 PM

Would this procedure apply to a drywall ceiling-plaster wall corner?… If
so, what joint compound should I use?
