If the nail head to be covered is a quarter inch in diameter, then why use
a 4″ or 5″ knife? That is spreading excess compound no matter how thin you
spread it. Logic would lead me to use a 1″ knife.

Thanks for the tip. I am drywalling a room for the first time and I was
going to do what you suggested not to do in order to minimize the shrinking
of the mud.

I recently got a job doing taping and mudding drywall. Tomarrow is day # 3
and I am trying to gather ideas on techniques. the owner of the bussness is
a personal friend so he is really trying to help me get it down. He is
amazingly fast and proficiant at what he does which in turn makes it look
like a piece of cake. Its not So I appreciate any and all videos simple or
not that can give me an pointers on teqniques i can try that are a bit more
begginer level. so thanx 4 the vid.

If people need instructions on how to cover a nail head or screw with mud,
then they shouldn’t be doing sheet rocking at all.

It would be nice if the camera man could keep up and you could actually see
the mud being put on the wall, rather than just in time to see you wipe it
back off.
