try using an envelope with painter’s tape to catch plaster dust. just stick
it up on the wall underneath where you’re drilling and it will catch the
dust as it falls straight down.

The “hardware guy” told me to add that. It’s just extra assurance that the
wire won’t slip off the screw, especially when hanging the piece. Once it’s
hung, the weight will keep it on the screw, but when I’m slipping the wire
over the screw head, I found the washer does help it stay in place.

Twist the screw into the anchor a couple of threads and you will be able to
drive it into the wall, that way you’re hitting the screw and not the
plastic.
