I like this guys, most of the time they are right but this time I’ll cut
off the old one, and install a new drywall (looks like a 24×24 inches) and
it should be a 5/8 drywall for the sealing

I wish they would at least address why they don’t recommend just cutting
out the old and replacing. This is the only time I’ve questioned if I’d
choose a different option than Tom.

That was a very good video. A repair that I have unfortunately had to do

Lesson learned… invest in plywood for a floor in the attic instead of
buying plywood for repairing a ceiling. Cheaper in the long run when you
figure materials and labor.
