mrgoodtime87 · September 10, 2014 at 4:44 PM

Just wondering…why did you paint the walls before the ceiling? Thanks
bud.

Light Ngo · September 10, 2014 at 4:51 PM

Hi Chris, Did you spray that wall too?

B&K Painting · September 10, 2014 at 5:50 PM

To answer that question for Chris, yes. Its an exception because of how
brittle acoustic(popcorn) texture is. Spraying it ensures the best
coats/coverage with minimal to no damage to the acoustic. Rolling it will
more than likely peel/break off alot of the acoustic as you roll on your
coating.

If you are renting you had better be careful. These guys are using special
equipment so that they don’t get the ceiling wet. If you get too much paint
on it the ceiling texture will fall off the ceiling. You should talk with
your landlord. The odds are against you using a roller.

I always do 2 coats of paint on any wall……..especially the cutins..they
always bleed thru and ive seen so many pro painters that don’t do this
especially in new home construction……once buyer gets house they then
complain that they can see thru the paint where the cutins are……always
do 2 cut ins and 2 topcoats on any wall……takes more time but hey that’s
what people are paying us for…..

Tiffany Smith · September 10, 2014 at 7:22 PM

Oh thank you! I have these old horrible popcorn ceilings in my apartment
and they are yellowed with age and whatever else the numerous previous
tenants did in this place and I CAN’T STAND it anymore. I must paint! 🙂

DAVE SMITH · September 10, 2014 at 7:42 PM

chris I love your vids but I have to be honest in this video I don’t under
stand why you didn’t just spray ceiling first and then roll the
walls……..seems like you spend more time taping and wrappin off the
walls and wasting plastic and paper……….I always spray my ceilings
first.let dry and then cutin walls and roll.no need to waste so much
plastic and paper……….I think my way is faster and better for
environment without all the waste of plastic and paper.love ya bro but just
sayin.

Paul Frieden · September 10, 2014 at 7:45 PM

Hey Chris, In the past you’ve said you don’t normally spray occupied
interiors. Is this an exception just because of the popcorn? Thanks, Paul

eyeslave1 · September 10, 2014 at 8:37 PM

Great job Chris. Can you possibly do some videos on: Bidding, different
sheens, oil over latex or the reverse, polyureathane, shellac,
prepping/metal coatings, laquer, fine grit sanding between coats, faux
finishes, glazing, blending? You have a plethora of videos I know, but
these are some topics that you haven’t covered yet and they would be
greatly appreciated.

what kind of extension are you using in this video for the gun, do you use
that extrnsion because of the popcorn ceiling, or can you also use a 24
extension wand?

B&K Painting · September 11, 2014 at 12:11 AM
