No, you will probably have roofing felt on the other side of the timber so
if you use this method on the timber the water will just go somewhere
else!

Ultimate Handyman, I have a big problem…Last house occupiers where
growing hash industrially , so they tore the felt in various places to
dissipate heat, smell and condensation in loft. This has resulted in
something way bigger than a hole to be fixed by flash-band. Could you show
how to repair say a missing section of felt between rafters (@600mm
centres) for say a roll length of felt or two? I am thinking of stapling
breather membrane to rafter edges and overlapping over felt.Would that
work? By the way following you since about 2006.

I preffer the poor mans lazy arse method alternative…… gaffa tape! But
