Noted modern architect Oscar Niemeyer designed this apartment building in Berlin’s Hansaviertel area. The Hansaviertel was the result of the 1957 Interbau (international building competition), and I loved getting to explore all the modern buildings around there.

It did not have they funky diamond patterns when it opened. It was just another plain pebble-crete building ("concrete with marble chips pressed into the surface", really). But inside it had "wall to wall wool carpeting"!
Named after the capitol of Senegal. Or maybe an obscure John Coltrane album with songs that he only cameos in.
Parcel viewer lists it as complete in 1963, but it opened for rent in 1962.
Which actually means it can’t be named after the John Coltrane album, released in 1963. So Senegal it is.
