Good point – with practice you can insert the nails into the slots. I
started doing that shortly after this video was made. Excellent point sir!

it might not crack when you do it, go pull the trim off a window you’ve
done that to that’s a couple years old. Those slotted holes arnt there to
make it easy to nail, they are slotted so when a nail is placed in the
center of the slot, as a 4 foot of PVC or composite plastic can expand up
to 1/4″. Just sayin
