As stated above we are providing services in the south florida area. With
this being said those 6″ strips are encouraged by the insurance industry to
prevent water from seeping in between the seams of the plywood in case the
roof is removed during storms. This is offered to all our clients so they
may benefit from the discounts offered by the insurance companies.

It’s smart to leave the tarpaper before pulling all the nails. They’re
much easier to see against the paper the the wood. It sucks missing a nail
and finding it after shingling has started.

What is this Labor Ready their labor but they’re just not ready. I take
that back they could be ready it would take one or two guys to take care of
that roof not like an ape. Ripping apart the shingles of you have a pitch
fork or a shovel you pry up on it any easier it comes off and you don’t
have to bend over ripping nails off its better. You rip it all apart all in
different parts you gotta pick up more pieces if you use the shovel or pick
it will keep it in a bigger clump to take over to the dumpster its just we
labor in time.

must be in Florida with those large head nails on the felt…. can’t
use your staple hammers there Jose like I’m watching some of “them” doing
next to my house here in Virginia…

They make a cap nailer now that does metal or plastic cap nails. No more
need to have your guys risking their fingertips to shoot down the caps like
that. A good owner would surely purchase 3 or 4 of these tools for his
large crew if he cares about their well being in any way, shape, or form.

It’s obvious that everyone talking bad about these guys are inferior, and
think that their way is the best way. Wonder if they’re working still?

If you want to replace your roof yourself, it’s important that you know
what you’re doing and you do it properly.

Mostly of roofing co. Use subcontractos, the company consist only in one
salesman getting jobs, mostly doesn’t even have a crew that works for them,
those crews are independent and work for others companies . Companies will
charge around $275 sq. Labor material for a 25 yrs Reroof
And around $300 for 30 yrs.
Crews will get between 45 to 55 sq. For labor if they are subcontractor and
25 to 40 if they are sub-subcontractors
Company owner if they work by themselves will make around $100.00 sq just
for getting the job

This video is really helpful in understanding the concept of replacement of
shingles from roof using nailing pattern. Impressed with your work

I had to watch this video twice. Once just to watch it and the second time
to see what all the comments were about. There are dozens of ways to tear
off a roof, this video shows this company doing it their way. Ice and
Water shield may not be required in the area of the country that they are
in. Northern Roofers must have ice and water shield installed 24 inches
into the heated wall. The strips on the plywood I don’t understand but
insurance companies lowering rates for doing something like that, why not
then for your homeowner. I can see the reasoning during a hurricane and the
roof gets blown off how that could help to prevent extensive damage to the
inside. Our company is all about safety even on the 4/12 roof pitch. The
newest rule is anything over 6 ft. from the ground. However, if you look at
the date of this video it was shot before that became law. I loved the days
that you didn’t have to wear them on a walkable roof. Now, the homeowners
have to pay for unnecessary labor.

Greg Hunter · September 11, 2014 at 6:58 PM

Its Florida.. Is there every any ice in Florida.

isantimn mn · September 11, 2014 at 7:15 PM

I see we have our typical armchair roofers! There are no less than 100
different ways to roof a house.
Fall protection, yes is required but on a 4:12 come on.

qmax22 · September 11, 2014 at 7:25 PM

A waste of self adhesive material on plywood seams ,water is not suppose to
run under shingles if it does it is because shingles are not correctly
installed, I personally think if I have a leak the sooner u know is better
,on this particular case water will take only longer to show and by the
time u notice the damages will be much worst.
